While micro-influencers do not reach the more prominent names, they still possess a lot of significance and are frequently more discerning and genuine together using promotion.

  • The Iron Triangle of Project Management to Succeed in 2020

The Iron Triangle of Project Management to Succeed in 2020

The Iron Triangle of Project Management basically consists of three factors. Scoping, Scheduling, and Costing. These Factors will result in Good Quality of products or services.

    What’s Inside?

Introduction: The Iron Triangle Of Project Management

First, there are few other names of The Iron Triangle of Project Management like

    • The Project Management Triangle
    • The Project Triangle
    • The Triple Constraint

So let’s Look into the Iron Triangle.

The Iron Triangle Represents Scope, Schedule, Cost, and Quality.

So each line in the triangle represents something. This line, which is red, represents the scope. The entire line represents the scope of the project.

Another blue line represents the schedule of the project. Thus like that, the cost is also represented by a line that is in green color.

So these three lines are interconnected to form a triangle.

Between the Scope, Schedule, and Cost, the area covered is the quality of the project. So the entire area is the quality of the project.

To have a good quality project, you need this area to be large enough. That is why the whole triangle is shaped so that the scope, schedule, cost and are given significant importance because they are the three constraints of the project and the most imp parts of the project.

The triangle emphasizes how scope, schedule, and cost are necessary and how quality is also essential and results from where these three falls.

    Explanation

    project management

Now let’s say you want to keep the cost projects as it is and wants to increase the scope of the project. What would that project look like?

The project will look ugly, doesn’t it because its cost is as it is. We have significantly increased the scope of the project here.

We have a lot of requirements like the scope of the project is increased that automatically increases the schedule of the project if you would have noticed.

So if you want to maintain the quality or if you want to maintain a high standard of quality.

The increasing scope here means that the schedule will also increase so you keep your cost as the base or keep your cost unmoved or you don’t change your cost.

If the cost is static and the scope of the project is to increase, then the schedule will also increase.

    project management

But the right way of doing this is by increasing the cost as well. If you increase the cost, the scope can be increased, the schedule can be increased, but it won’t be a dramatic increase in the schedule.

If you increase your base cost of the project, then schedule can also come down a bit, and you will be able to deliver a lot of scope with the quality that you desire in the timeframe or in the schedule which is not significantly large, so that is why these are the competing constraints.

These are triple constraints. If you increase the scope, make sure you increase the cost, and the schedule doesn’t go out of the boundary.

3 Points To Keep In Mind

    1. The quality of the work is constrained by the project’s budget, deadlines, and scope.

Above we have seen that the quality was stuck in the between where the quality is the entire area of the triangle. Now the quality of work is constrained by the project budget deadlines in scope.

So, If you increase the budget and do not increase deadlines and scope appropriately, quality is going to worsen budget; what do we mean by budget here as.

The budget means the cost available for the project.

The deadline is the time which is available to complete the project.

Scope ( features) is what must be accomplished or done to produce the projects’ results. To complete the project or what all the project team does.

Quality of your project work will be constrained by these three competing constraints, which is again the other word for all these three constraints, i.e., competing constraints.

    2. The project manager has the authority to trade between the project constraints.

So it is a project manager who has authority who will decide on which project constraints he should trade against the other project constraints.

If the project scope increases and the schedule does not increase as per project manager authority as per business requirement.

If you deliver a project within a specific time frame, but its scope is increased, what you trade with is you trade the scope with the cost you have to increase the cost of the project. The project manager has the authority to make this trade.

    3. A change in one project constraint will be going to lead change in others to compensate.

If you increase the scope, you have to increase the cost or increase the schedule the deadline of the project or make an appropriate increase in both cost and schedule to compensate for the change in scope. But if you don’t do that, then the quality of your project is going to suffer.

    Project Management Triangle Example

By increasing the budget or cutting scope a project can be completed faster. If you want to have a project of a 10-month, which you need to be delivered in 8 months, you need to either increase the budget or cut the scope.

Increasing the scope requires equivalent budget and schedule.

Cutting the budget without adjusting the schedule will result in quality down..

If you increase or decrease just one part of the triangle one constraint, if you just cut the budget, then your schedule and scope, if you don’t change it or don’t adjust it, keep the schedule and scope the same. You just cut the budget, and then the quality is going to decrease.

How does the Iron Triangle look for a Waterfall Project?

    project management

Let’s see if you can figure it out. We’re going to build a bridge. The bridge will take one year to build and cost one million dollars.

    Cost: $1m

    Time: 1-year

    Scope: 1 bridge

What if it goes over budget? Not ideal.

What if it comes in under budget? You’d be okay with that.

What if it overruns? Not great.

What if it takes just nine months. I’m 100% sure that you will love it.

What if only 3/4th of a bridge is completed??

    Scope?

What about the 1.5th of the bridge is done?

Yes, you are right; both are silly. We need precisely one complete bridge. So for a Waterfall project, the scope is fixed. And cost and time are variable. Most project managers will choose to fix the second parameter.

    Conclusion

For completing an Awesome project, there is a big role of project managers. As they need to manage the constraints of the project carefully and effectively. Because the change in only one will influence others as well as it will affect the quality of the project.

Everyone will choose different approaches for different projects. A Responsible Project Manager will make a complete plan by his/her understanding to get the best quality of the project.

  • How to use Cause and Effect Analysis to Easily Solve any Problem

How to use Cause and Effect Analysis to Easily Solve any Problem

Cause and effect analysis is a powerful technique to find the causes of a particular problem. Every business or organization will face some problems whether it’s a small problem or big so this technique will help to find the root cause of the problem.

In this blog,So, I’ll discuss about how to do cause and effect analysis and what are the steps involved in it

    What’s in it for me?

Cause and effect analysis involves two major steps

    Looking Backward

This involves all the past mistakes and problems and analyzing it. Analyzing where it came from and what’s it’s a solution so it will not be repeated in future

    Looking Forward

So, This step involves about the future problems and analyzing it. In future what problems may occur so preparing in advance

When To Use Cause And Effect Analysis

Cause and effect analysis can be used in many ways but its primary purpose is to help you solve problems the problem is the effect whatever brings about that effect is the cause, the cause and effect technique will speed the identification of the true cause or causes so the corrective action can be taken

    • Root cause analysis
    • Problem exploration
    • Identifying possible data requirements
    • Developing objectives for solutions
    • Narrowing down causes
    • Also, Identifying the root causes of any problem
    • Meanwhile, Relationship between the causes of a problem

What is a Cause And Effect Diagram

    Cause And Effect Diagram

A cause and effect diagram also known as a fishbone diagram or Ishikawa diagram to identify all of the contributing root causes likely to be causing a problem. It is also a Fishbone diagram as it’s shape looks similar to a fish

It typically displays major generic categories such as people methods materials and equipment that cause an effect that’s often perceive as a problem it was first applied by a picture of the guy here as Carol Ishikawa in 1950 and it can use to systematically analyze cause and effect relationships and to identify potential root causes of a problem

First of all, define a problem that will be head of the fish then decide major causes and effects leading to a problem. These causes can be grouped in categories and sub-categories also like Machine, Material, Method and People

    Machine

So, This category includes all the potential causes caused by the machine. So, It should capable to meet production requirements

The Process doesn’t interrupt due to machine failure

    Material

hence, This category includes all the potential causes caused by the material.

    • Is there any waste in material
    • The Quality standard is good or not

    People

Hence, This category includes all the potential causes contributed by human actions

    Method

So, This category involves all the potential causes caused by the method

    • Are the work standards adequate
    • Is the method safe

    The other categories are

    8 Ms used in manufacturing

Material, Machine, Method, Man, Measurement, Milieu, Management and money, Maintenance

So, 5s used in service industries

Suppliers, Surrounding Systems, Scope of skills, Standard documentation

Hence, The 8 Ps used in marketing

Product, Price, Promotion, Place, People, Process, Packaging, Physical evidence

5 Steps To Do Cause And Effect Analysis

    1. Step 1: Define The Problem

First, write in the quality problem on the right-hand side and draw an arrow pointing to it. The problem which needs analysis should be written

    2. Step 2: Decide Major Causes And Effects Leading To A Problem

Determine the major categories for grouping possible causes the most popular examples of major causes are the four M’s machines materials manpower and methods you can use more or fewer major causes and you do not have to use any of the four M’s if they do not apply it is just an easy way to get started if the four M’s are not appropriate there are numerous other choices these are some examples the number of major causes can vary and can be more or less than four

    3. Step 3: Brainstorm And Analyze

You’ve to gather a team and do a brainstorming activity. In your team 3-4 or more than that people will be discussing what the problem is and they will come with their idea so we can take the best idea. Brainstorm and analyze will be happening on problem and major causes detail. Brainstorming is a very important activity in cause and effect analysis tool
Meanwhile, When brainstorming it is important to remember that Clues may surround us but a less our mental blindfold is removed we may miss seeing or thinking of those causes that are important as the ideas are written down. The chart should not look like the top diagram.
Also, The purpose of the cause-and-effect chart is to group like ideas together with a big help to the leader is for a member.

    4. Step 4: Categorize Causes

Find possible causes leading to a problem. You’ve to see what exact cause is leading to a problem. You’ve to continue till you’ve found the root cause of the problem

    5. Step 5: Action Plan

After you have analyzed the problem and find its causes, the last step is to develop an action plan so that you would not repeat the same mistake again

    5 Why Analysis

Why-Why analysis is used for root cause identification. Why-Why analysis is also known as 5 why analysis in which we ask why for the 5 times so that we get to know about the root cause of a problem. Root cause means the cause of a problem and by eliminating it we will not repeat the same mistake again.

Root cause analysis in 5 why technique is used by many industries and businesses. It’s not necessary in why-why analysis that we should ask why for only 5 times for finding out the root cause.
Sometimes the root cause can be found on the 3rd, 4th why or it can go up to 6th,7th or more. It’s not a hard and fast rule that we will find the root cause at the 5th why.

Minimum at 3rd why the root cause can be found and if it’s less than 3rd then it’s the indication that we have not done the why-why analysis properly. Why-Why analysis can be used in any field like our own personal problem, business, home, office work or anything.

    Example: Ac is not working

Why? 1. A.C does not work!

Why? 2. The Power supply does not Reach!

Why? 3. The Wire is cut off!

Why? 4. Torn out by mouse!

Why? 5. Pocket for mouse entrance!

    5 Why Analysis

So we have found that the root cause was the pocket from where the mouse was entering and we will take the corrective actions. In why-why analysis it’s not necessary that we should take actions on the last why. We can take actions on above the why also.

    Tips:

    • Focus on the causes of the problem instead of symptoms
    • Focus on the problem instead of the symptom
    • Encourage each person of the team to participate in the brainstorming activity
    • Focus on one cause and effect of a problem at a time
    • In five why technique keep asking why until you get to the root cause

    Conclusion

Cause and effect analysis is one of the powerful tools to solve any problem whether it’s personal or business-related. By doing a brainstorming activity you’ll find the root cause of the problem so use it for root cause analysis

  • Branding | What is Branding, and why it’s important?

Branding | What is Branding, and why it’s important?

Branding is a steady process of building a link or an attachment between a corporation and the consumer’s sentiment for making for a personal connection that helps to build trust.

The brand is the positive or negative image of the product in the minds of our consumers. It is an emotion or feelings produced towards the organization or its product, which is offered by the organization.

For example, the iPhone is the product of the brand Apple.

The product can be copied, but the brand can never be copied. The brand always remains different and offbeat from other brands.

    For example, Pepsi and Coke.

Local coke is found everywhere, but still, local coke couldn’t copy the branded coke. In this case, Coke’s product is similar, but the brand name, logo, tagline, taste, emotion, etc. are different from one another.

It is the marketing strategy that organizations create to sell their products easily. So, it helps people or consumers to quickly identify the company’s product and give them a cause to select their products over the competition.

The main motto is to create a royal image of the product in people’s minds.

    Here you will get this:

    What is Branding?

Branding is a marketing practice in which a company creates a name, design, symbol, or image, or any artwork that is readily identifiable to the customers. It helps the product to get easily identified by the consumers.

Branding is powerful because it not only creates the images in customer’s minds but also makes the marketing, sales, or launching of any sub-brand easy.

It is a way of marking yourself different from the competitors and simplifying your contribution that makes you a better selection. You should build your face value also to get recognized in the global market, something different from the others.

    What is the Product?

Product is anything that satisfies the consumer’s needs that includes physical assets, assistance, happenings, experiences, personalities, sites, features, institutions, learning, and plans.

A product can be a service or an asset – whether tangible or intangible, also it can be a virtual product or in a cyber form.

A product can be anything from a stay in a hotel, security, a course, costumes, cuisine, etc.

‘WATER’ can also be a product. Yes, can you believe, water is one of the most important basic need for a human being.
There are companies which just mineralized the water, pack it into bottles and sell it in the market.

    bisleri water

Further there is a vast classification of product, but we will not get into a deep discussion regarding that in this blog.

    Who will it affect?

Most importantly, customers and then the Founders/share-holders will be most affected from the practice of branding.

    Customers:

It is the most obvious answer, the prime motto of branding is customers, but their feelings also matters a lot.

Branding is not just a way of selling our products to customers. But it’s a brand that provides luxury to the customers (iPhone); it’s a brand that gives a next-level way of life to the customers (Mercedes Benz), it’s a brand that makes people be in the company’s ecosystem (Google and Apple).

It provides the consumer with a choice-making way when feeling doubtful about the same goods from different companies.

    Employees/Funders/Share-holders:

Now a days, everyone wants to work with big brands like Google, Amazon, Accenture, Alison, but why?

They give a graduate his identity.

Successful branding procedures and strategies are very helpful in the company’s reputation. This creates market value and brand authority.

This affects a chain of people and creates a new place for your brand.

From customers to operators, investors, stockholders, providers, and wholesalers, it builds respect. People would like to invest more in reliance then in Chandu sim or Chandu mart, or Chandu Bazar or Chandu clothes.

    Innovation

    Innovation

This is not mandatory for branding, but it gives an edge, but how?

For Example, Disney, Square, Google, Apple, OYO, Shopify, etc. got an edge because they did some innovation in the existing product.

To establish a point of difference is the great strategy to establish a brand. The point of differentiation can be anything, your service or your goods, or both.

The assertive, and often the most pleasing, means of differentiation for customers are advantages related to achievement.

Offers such as color, fashion, luxury, insurance, discount prices can also support Branding.

Sometimes variations in the purchasing conditions can open up new possibilities to create a means of differentiation.

    EXAMPLES-

For example, Pepsico penetrated into rising customer interest in natural and organic outcomes to reposition the lemon-lime soft drink as all-natural with only five components: carbonated water, potassium citrate, citric acid, sugar, and natural flavor.

    Pepsico doing its branding

In the end, the innovation gives an edge as the innovation creates new value in the market and fulfills the new difficulties that no other brands fulfill.

Organizations can fashion appealing concepts that appeal to customer’s familiar and psychological needs.

For example, Marlboro’s excellent worldwide business share (about 32 %) is that its “macho cowboy” image has struck a receptive chord with much of the cigarette-smoking public.

Wine and liquor associations also work tough to develop unique images for their brands.

Even your photo can create your brand image, but for that, your face value should be good in the market. To create face value, YouTube can help you a lot.

Seller’s dynamic space can be a strong image generator.

Hyatt Regency Hotels produced a distinctive image with its atrium rooms.

For getting recognition of your innovation in the market, YouTube is the best place to sell your product and innovation.

    Trust Creation?

The most important thing in Branding is the Level of trust gained. Trust in the market place is very beneficial for you to create your brand and to grow.

Trust itself says to commit. You should give the commitment to the customers that your brand will not break their trust.

An expert representation and well-strategized branding will help the organization build commitment with customers, potential buyers, and clients.

Investors are more likely to do funds those businesses which have an excellent and acknowledged imitation.

So you should gain the trust of both the customers and stakeholders.

If you gain the faith of customers, then stakeholders or investors will automatically gain faith in your organization. Customer and content are the kings of your market place.

    How can branding be established?

Companies try to use many ways to promote themselves as a brand like from advertisements, or from mouth publicity, etc., but this is just a part of How branding can be established? You have several ways to create a brand:

For example, branding can be created through:

    1. Fulfilling the purpose, values, faith of the consumers, this will give you recurring customers.
    2. Secondly, Every brand has a short line for its promotion; you have to create that.
    3. If you notice in the brand advertisements, they have a jingle in their slogan. That jingle remains in consumer’s minds for a very long time.
    4. Name, tone, visual identity, design, are also very important.
    5. Logo plays a very important role in making identity. May it be simple, but you should keep in mind your brand color and then integrate that color into your logo.
    6. Advertising in commercials like TV, radio, magazines, websites, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, etc.

    FEW MORE UNIQUE BRANDING WAYS

    1. As I have discussed earlier, the packaging is the best way to influence people. If you have seen the packaging of newly launched Bourbon biscuits, the packaging influence truly depicts from that example.
    2. YouTube is now a day, the best place to give sponsorships because they have more conversion rates than TV ads. People trust YouTubers more than TV actors or rather Film actors.
    3. After doing all this, you should once check the ground reality also because only board-room meeting does not help to sell your products.
    4. You should check the workspace management and working and selling style of people, along with competitors’ strategy.
    5. You should do Reverse engineering by evaluating the competitor’s product, you should keep an eye on the competitor’s product and always keep innovating your own product to remain ahead of your competitor.
    6. Most important of all is Customer service; it will decide the Reoccurrence of the customers. All branding and marketing will be of no use if you fail to provide the best customer service.
    7. If your brand is new, then keep the pricing of your product/service a bit lower than your competitors. And then just keep innovating your product till it becomes far better than your competitor’s product. And then you can slightly hike your product’s price.

It is also the first Indian company to exceed the market capitalization of Rs 10 lakh crore. Reliance has many subsidiaries who operate in different industries.

    2. How Reliance Industry Started

Reliance Industry is started by formation of Reliance Commercial Corporation. In 1973, Dhirubhai Ambani changed the name of Reliance Commercial corporation to Reliance Industries. The Early office of Reliance commercial corporation was set up at Narsinatha Street in Masjid Bunder.

    How Reliance Industry Started

It was a 350 square ft room with one telephone, one table and three chairs. Dhirubhai Ambani borrowed heavily amount to start his business. He set up her first mil in Naroda, Ahmedabad which was her life’s biggest struggle.

He launched his own brand called Vimal who sells polyester material for saris, shawls, suits and dresses. Another mill owner opposing the Sales of Vimal and said that it is a polyester brand, but Dhirubhai Ambani is a Highly motivated person.

They never stopped there and they went straight to the retailer and asked them to sell only Vimal brand.  Dhirubhai Ambani marketed their brand very well. In a few days, Vimal makes a household name in the Indian textile industry. They began selling franchise outlets in which only Vimal brands are sold.

In the mid of 1970, Reliance’s turnover crossed 70 crores. Vimal is not only famous in India, but it is also famous outside India. He used advanced technology in his factories to produce more at a cheap cost.  In 1975, A team from the World Bank visited the Reliance textile manufacturing Unit. He raised more money by issuing 6 series of convertible debentures.

In 1980, the Indian Government opened Polyester Filament Yarn (PFY). Dhirubhai Ambani applied for a PFY license. At that time, it was very difficult to obtain a license to run big manufacturing business and Reliance industry facing tough competition from its competitor Birla and Tata, but despite all struggle, he obtained the licence of PFY.

He pulled his eldest son Mukesh Ambani from Stanford University where he studied MBA to help him in his business. His son, left his university and came to India to help his father in the business.

At that time Ambani’s son was very young, he did not have any experience in the business. He focused on backward integration to grow his business, and so that he expanded his business to polyester fibre and petrochemical to make yarns.

In Reliance Industry Mukeh Ambani works under Rasikbhai who is executive director of the company. In 1985 Rasikbhai passed away and in 1986 Dhirubhai Ambani suffered a stroke. All the responsibility of Reliance Industry came to his son’s  Mukes Ambani and Anil Ambani.
